Jonas' family was having dinner, dad said that he would have to release a twin baby because a birthmother had identical twins. He said that he would choose them by weight and then he would get the other baby comfortable and someone from elsewhere would take him away.

Finally, in the end of the chapter the Giver tells Jonas that his daughter's name was Rosemary.
"He picked up the carton and carried it to the other side of the room. He opened a small door on the wall; Jonas could see darkness behind the door. It seemed to be the same sort of chute into which trash was deposited at school."
(Lowry 150)
Jonas father had dumped the baby on the chute. I feel this is completely insane because it is like a message that says that 'if you are no use to the community or are different then you are the same as garbage to us'. Over the chapters that I have read, it has been very clear that they want everyone to be the same and if there are twins it is too crazy to think that there are 2 community members that you can't tell apart.
Jonas' community is careful because there is no room for mistake; making a mistake could get you released or ruin your life in the community. To me, it is no excuse for the people not to know what has happened because taking a human life away because someone says so is like when people ask that <if someone told you to jump off a building would you do it?>. I think that life is a concept that isn't taken seriously on the society and consequently people are forced to live under oppressive rules and concepts.
Overall, Jonas society should change because we see knew concepts that are psychotic. i think that the Giver will want to go with Jonas to 'elsewhere' and after looking for this mysterious place what they find will be much worse than the community's rules and lifestyle. then the Giver and Jonas will work hard to go back to the community feeling regret. This book keeps the reader very amused and interested. The ending of the book is hard to find because anything can happen at this point.
